Our Pastor

Rev. Ja’mel Armstrong began his pastorate at New Horizon Baptist Church, on January 1, 2021.  Prior to coming to New Horizon, Pastor J. served as pastor of One Church, a multiethnic ministry launched with hopes of leading those who are far from God into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.  He grew up in the inner city of Louisville, KY, and experienced many unfortunate events that gave him a desire to help others and see a change in their lives and their community.

Ministry “officially” began for Ja’mel in 2002 at New Horizon Full Gospel Baptist Church where he served as the assistant director of the youth department.  In 2004, God lead him to St. Stephen Church where he served as a youth pastor for 5 years.  It was at St. Stephen where Ja’mel developed a heart for community and reaching people who are disconnected from God.

After his departure from St. Stephen, Pastor J. went on to plant two churches as well as to mentor and train urban church planters across the U.S.

Ja’mel and his wife Rochelle have been married since September of 2001 and have three children; Jonathan, Jessica & Dejah.
