About Us
A GREAT CHURCH!
THE GREAT COMMANDMENT | MATTHEW 22:37-40
THE GREAT COMMISSION | MATTHEW 28:18-20
THE GREAT COMPASSION | MATTHEW 25:35-40
Who We Are
Our church is guided by three core principles: love, mission, and compassion. We are committed to loving God wholeheartedly and extending that love to others in our community and beyond. This love shapes our worship, relationships, and every aspect of our ministry.
We are also devoted to living with purpose by sharing hope and truth, helping others grow in faith, and inviting them to experience a life transformed by God. Our mission is to make a meaningful impact both locally and globally.
Compassion is at the heart of who we are. We believe in serving others selflessly, meeting practical needs, and offering kindness and care to those facing challenges. Through acts of service, we aim to reflect God’s love in a tangible way.
Together, these principles inspire us to be a church that brings hope, healing, and transformation to the world. We invite you to be part of this journey.
Our Story
Based on God’s word as recorded in Matthew 18:20 which reads, “For where two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them,” the church was officially organized on Thursday evening, September 24, 1981 in the assembly room of the WestEnd Lions Club. The organization appers were signed by six organizing members, two by baptism, another with immediate letters from Emmanuel Baptist Church and three by Christian experience.
Our Core Values
These are the Values that guide our work.
Restoring One Another Through Relationships
At New Horizon Baptist Church, we believe that true restoration happens through meaningful relationships. By fostering connections with God and one another, we create a supportive community where individuals can experience healing, growth, and purpose. Through love, compassion, and shared faith, we walk alongside each other, encouraging transformation and building a foundation of hope for all. Together, we are a family united in Christ, dedicated to restoring lives and renewing spirits. (Acts 2:44, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20)
Impacting The Community Around Us
We are committed to being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. We strive to meet the needs of those around us by feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, clothing the needy, caring for the sick, and visiting the imprisoned. Through acts of compassion and service, we aim to reflect Christ’s love, showing that every individual is valued and cared for. Together, we seek to bring hope, healing, and transformation to our neighbors as we live out our faith in action.
Strengthening One Another Through Scripture
We are devoted to building each other up through the Word of God, just as the early believers did in Acts 2:42. By studying scripture, praying together, and sharing in fellowship, we deepen our faith and encourage one another in our spiritual journey. The Bible is our foundation, offering wisdom, guidance, and strength as we grow closer to God and one another. Together, we are a community rooted in God’s truth, supporting and equipping each other to live out our faith with boldness and joy.
Experiencing God Through Worship
We believe worship is a powerful way to encounter God’s presence and grow in faith. Following the example in Acts 2:42-47, we come together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God through prayer, song, and the breaking of bread. Worship is not just what we do but who we are—expressing our gratitude, surrender, and love for God. Through these moments of connection, we experience His grace, draw closer to Him, and are inspired to live out His purpose for our lives.
